Welcome to the December newsletter!

ian white founder of Australian Bush Flower Essences

One thing about this time of year that is quite universal no matter which hemisphere of the world you live in, is that it’s a busy travelling time.

In my update, I’m going to suggest Essences and strategies to help you prepare for a trip, have the least challenging and stressful time during it, and what to do to enhance your experience after you arrive.

A Fear of Flying

For some people travelling is restricted to land or sea travel due to a fear of flying. Airlines often run a behaviour modification course to help potential travellers who suffer from this. However it can take a number of weeks and in my experience is not as effective when compared to working with Emergency Essence.  A number of years ago a German TV program aired about Flower Essences. A number of people who were proponents of Flower Essences and experienced in using them partook in it as well as a number of talking heads who were opposed to Flower Essences. The latter were all university professors looking for some quick money and who had no experience of Flower Essences, but happy to be paid to make unqualified and often preposterous assertions.

The producer’s mother had a fear of flying and they wanted to use her on the program. The plan was to put her on a plane, give her some Bush Essences and see what happened! They originally suggested Travel Essence but I changed it to Emergency Essence instead, as it was more appropriate and we had had great success with this in treating people with this condition.

The producer’s mother had already missed the overseas wedding of one of her daughters as she was too terrified to get on a plane. On the day of the program she was given her Emergency Essence and after a couple of doses was put on board. When the plane arrived they had a film crew ready to interview her – which for some people would be very stressful in itself. The mother had a very stunned look on her face and blurted out to the interviewer “It’s incredible, I was able to do it.” She held up the Emergency Essence bottle and exclaimed, “I don’t know what is in this, but I wasn’t scared and I was even able to look out the window and try and work out where my son’s house might be. I wished I had known about this Emergency Essence years ago.”

I have had people at workshops tell me that on the flight to Sydney they’ve noticed passengers looking very distressed, some gripping the seat or arm rest with white knuckles, others ordering alcohol straight away and one child just screaming. Some of these workshop participants have offered the terrified passenger the Emergency Essence directly, with almost instantaneous results, whilst the participant who was near the screaming child offered it to the airline steward to give to the mother and child. In this case it was the Emergency Essence mist, not the drops. Within less than a minute after spraying it above the terrified child, the screaming had stopped and the child started to relax.

Essences for Travel

Normally I recommend carrying a bottle of Travel Essence for any plane flight. However, it’s not a bad idea to also take along a bottle of Emergency Essence. Some people are very sensitive to travel sickness, whether it’s car or boat but especially the latter. In this situation Travel Essence, especially if you add Paw Paw and Dagger Hakea to it, is very effective. Again, you can use this Combination for animals (especially when they are very young), if they suffer from car-sickness. Young animals are much more prone to this. I would recommend using a couple of doses a few hours apart – before the trip and as soon as the trip starts. It can be repeated every 10 or 15 minutes if necessary.

Essences to think of Prior to Travelling

If you intend travelling to a different country where they don’t speak your mother tongue and you are going to study their language I would recommend that you take the Cognis Essence whilst you are learning the language. It will make a big and noticeable difference. I’m sure you will be surprised by how much grammar and vocabulary you will remember if you work with this Essence. Some people have a sense of where they feel they would like to go on a national or overseas trip and there is usually a very good reason why they are getting a sense to go to Egypt or Vietnam etc. If you have been getting such a gut feeling but ignoring it then you may want to take Bush Fuchsia, either by itself in any of the Combinations it’s in, to help you trust and follow your intuition.

One of the other areas where the Essences can be of help before your trip starts is by taking Cognis Essence a few days before you fly so that you can be more focussed organising your packing rather than leaving it to the last minute. Sundew will help stop the procrastination while also helping you to be mindful of the finer details of what needs to be done and packed. Isopogon will help you to remember everything and Paw Paw will clear any overwhelm that might occur if you are leaving things to the last minute, or simply affected by how much there is to do.

Many travellers only get a very short sleep, if any at all, the night before they go on an overseas flight  – not the ideal way to start your holiday or business trip. I suggest spraying Calm and Clear mist in your bedroom and applying the Calm and Clear moisturiser on your face and hands on your last night before the trip so that you are well rested before you commence your journey.

I would also suggest taking Freshwater Mangrove before going on a holiday or a trip to somewhere new as it helps let go of expectation. If you have already made your mind up as to what you will see or experience on your trip you will tend to actually manifest this. If you are going to a different culture and you find yourself being very judgemental of that culture or the local people, then you may want to start taking Yellow Cowslip Orchid. If you don’t speak the language of the country you are in, consider taking a blend of Bush Fuchsia and Green Spider Orchid to help you communicate and assess people more effectively. This will enhance and allow you to trust your first impressions about people and places.

There is plenty of evidence to show that the toxins in the vaccinations such as mercury, formaldehyde, aluminium, antibiotics etc are detrimental to one’s health. And I would suggest avoiding having any unless it is mandatory. Some countries will not let you enter if you have previously been to an area where there are illnesses, such as yellow fever and you haven’t been vaccinated for it. This happened to me when travelling in Peru to make the Angelic Essence in the White Light Essence range and then wanting to re-enter Brazil to teach. I am against vaccinations and would never willingly have one. However, given I had a full class of over 100 students waiting for my workshop in Sao Paulo, I reluctantly had the vaccination, though only after exhausting all other options to avoid having to do it. I made sure though, that I took a dose of Emergency Essence  immediately before and after the yellow fever shot.  I then followed with a two week course of Purifying Essence. This would also be my strategy if you were contemplating having a vaccination. If you were, I would also strongly advise you do some research about their side effects.

Problems while Travelling

Another hazard of flying is aerotoxicity, which is finally getting the attention it deserves. It is not uncommon for aviation fuel fumes to enter the cabin. This has been put down as the cause for chronic fatigue-like symptoms that many flight and cabin crew have suffered from, as well as sensitive passengers who have also been exposed to it. If you ever detect a fuel smell in the cabin, notify the staff then take yourself off as quickly as you can to the toilet and lock yourself in. The toilets have a higher level of oxygen than the rest of the cabin. In this situation I would also suggest taking Purifying Essence for a couple of weeks after the flight.  Many flights are now being diverted if fumes are detected whilst in-flight, as airlines are now aware of their injurious effects. They obviously want to avoid costly compensation claims but hopefully are also concerned about the welfare of their staff and passengers.

Travel Essence

When you are on the plane I recommend taking Travel Essence – 7 drops every hour whilst awake. This will certainly assist you in arriving more refreshed and ready to go and minimise some of the more negative effects of being on a plane. Travel Essence has more Essences in it (14) than any other Combination in our range. And this is because there are so many stresses involved in being a passenger on a plane. It contains the following Essences:

Banksia Robur – to help with any feelings of lethargy, to be more enthusiastic and for temporary loss of drive due to weariness.

Bottlebrush – to cope with change such as different mealtimes, different cuisines, even different toilets! This Essence will also help you ‘let go’ of where you’ve come from as well as some of your routines which may have been developing in to a rut.

Bush Fuchsia – very helpful for travel sickness.

Bush Iris – helps you readjust quickly to different time zones.

Crowea – eases feelings of being ‘not quite right’ and has a very balancing, calming & relaxing effect

Fringed Violet – is great for psychic protection when you’ve got people crammed in all around you on a long flight especially if they are anxious, fearful or stressed. It also helps you to block out and be less affected by engine vibration. The worst seat on a plane is in line with the engine – the longer the trip the bigger the impact on you, so always make sure at check-in that your seat is not near the engines. At least you will have your Travel Essence if you are seated next to the engines, but it’s better to be far away from them.

Macrocarpa – is for dealing with feeling drained, jaded or worn out and helps with endurance.

When you are 35,000 feet above the ground you absorb a lot of gamma radiation which is why we’ve included Mulla Mulla.

Paw Paw helps with feelings of overwhelm but along with Crowea works on the stomach meridian. In a pressurised cabin you don’t digest animal protein very well and I advise having light meals, plenty of water and no alcohol in order to arrive in the best possible shape.

Red Lily helps with both engine vibration and flying on a north/south axis. Flying east/west or vice versa has a bigger impact on you but there is still a detrimental consequence of flying on the north/south axis even when there’s little or no time zone difference.

You can get very dehydrated when flying hence She Oak is added. It also assists with overcoming female imbalances and for this reason is very good for women who are pilots or cabin crew and for  women who fly frequently.

Silver Princess helps with a sense of lack of direction that you may experience when arriving as well as helping with counteracting flying on the north/south axis.

Sundew helps with any feelings of vagueness, disorientation or ungroundedness.

Finally Tall Mulla Mulla has been a more recent addition to help with circulation.

If it’s been a long flight you can consider taking the Travel Essence three or four times for the first couple of days upon arrival and especially before going to sleep. I have often arrived on a Friday in Brazil or Europe after 24 hours of travel and taught a two day workshop that same weekend. I couldn’t do it without the Travel Essence. It simply wouldn’t have been possible.

Travel Tips on Arrival

Once you have arrived at your accommodation whether it’s a B&B, hotel or a friend’s house pull out your Space Clearing Mist and use it in the room where you’ll be staying or sleeping – or the whole apartment etc.  You’ve got no idea what might have happened in the room before you arrived. Someone could have died of a heart attack; there could have been a lot of drug use, arguments or violence taken place previously in that space, all of which will leave a psychic residue, which won’t be very pleasant to experience. The first two things I pack for my trips are my Travel Essence and Space Clearing Mist.

If you are dealing with a different language or currency on your trip, you may want to be taking Cognis Essence to keep you mentally sharp and focussed. A bottle of Little Flannel Flower and Pink Flannel Flower can also keep you in a happy disposition if annoying little things start cropping up on your trip or it doesn’t go quite as planned. There’s always a positive reason why things happen. Pink Flannel Flower will help remind you of this and allow you to enjoy the situations and people that you will encounter, which is the whole purpose of travelling.

Numerology & Travel

In the system of Numerology that I use there is a 9 year cycle where for each year there is a specific energy available to you to be utilised. To determine the Year cycle you are in, add the day and month of your birthday to the current year you are in. So for example if you were born on the 13th August, to work out your year cycle you write down 13 08 2017. You then add the numbers together (1+3+8+2+1+7) which when added together gives you 22. You have to end up with a number between 1 and 9, so you add the 2 and 2 together and it gives you 4. So from the 1st Jan 2017 until the 31st December 2017 a person with this birthdate would be in a Year 4.  In a Year 4 you need to be looking after your body so you may be more sensitive to jetlag. And if travelling in this year you may want to take Black-eyed Susan on your trip so you’re not overdoing it and busily cramming in as many experiences as possible without getting enough sleep and rest.  Otherwise you are likely to get very tired and quite often sick.

Someone in a Year 6 may not be so inclined to travel because they enjoy being at home more. However, they may be more excited by cultural and artistic aspects of a trip than in other years. So, going to art galleries and concerts would be very satisfying in this year. Someone in a Year 3 will enjoy a lot of stimuluses so the experience of going to a country with a very different culture can be very appealing and satisfying. Someone in a Year 5 might be drawn, especially in the months of May and October, to travelling where they can access nature easily and make it a focus of their trip. They may even enjoy short trips by themselves if they don’t have a partner or family. Change works very well in a Year 9 or a Year 1. So maybe travelling for a permanent move can work out quite well – either to a new city or country. If it’s more of a permanent change then Bauhinia taken beforehand can help prepare one for and to be more open to the change.

Bon Voyage!!

Level 3 Workshop

At our recent Level 3 workshop in Sydney, where we had attendees from Japan, China, Switzerland, Brazil and the UK, the Essence we made was Dog Rose. The bush was very dry, yet the Dog Rose growing by the creek was in full glory and abundance. I have included some very interesting photos that one of the participants took of the bowl. She didn’t use any filters on these shots but there was a different colour emanating from the bowl in each of her photos.  I hope you will be as fascinated as I was in seeing them.

Christmas Gift Idea

If you are looking for some suitable presents might I suggest our pendant range and I have included some images here of them as well as the link to them on our website.
